[Cross-Domain Special Lecture and Implementation] November 5, 2026: How to Correctly Utilize AI for Academic Research Design and Reduce Hallucination in Writing

【Interdisciplinary Seminar and Workshop】

Topic: Effective Application of AI in Academic Research Design and Strategies to Mitigate Hallucination in Writing
Speaker: Professor Ming-Hsien Li (Full-time Professor, Department of Education and Potential Development, National Dong Hwa University)
Date and Time: Thursday, November 5, 2026, 09:00–12:00
Venue: Flower Path Classroom (2C110), 1st Floor, Lixin Building, Jieren Campus, Tzu Chi University
Target Audience: All faculty and students
Special Note: This session includes a hands-on workshop. Please bring a laptop and charger.

【Speaker Biography】
Professor Ming-Hsien Li is currently a full-time professor in the Department of Education and Potential Development at National Dong Hwa University. He holds dual doctorates—a Ph.D. in Education from National Taiwan Normal University and a Ph.D. in Clinical Foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine—spanning the fields of education and medicine. His research expertise includes health behavior, anti-bullying, psychosomatic health issues, exercise and mental well-being, international safe schools, the integration of information technology into E-Health, and physical potential development. He has published extensively in numerous domestic and international academic journals and possesses significant experience in journal submission and peer review.

In recent years, Professor Li has focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence into academic research, personally developing several research-assistive tools, including the open-ended Q-methodology research platform "Qsort-Owl," the scale localization AI system "TRACE-OWL," "AI Academic Prompt Master," the "CVI Research Tool Platform," and "SpeakOwl." He is frequently invited to deliver public lectures and lead workshops at medical and educational institutions in Hualien, Taipei, Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital, and Tzu Chi University. His sessions, covering topics such as AI-assisted academic writing, Q-methodology research design, scale localization, and international journal submission, have been highly acclaimed. In May 2026, he led his doctoral students to present the research findings of the Qsort-Owl platform at the IAFOR International Conference (ACSS2026) in Tokyo, Japan.

【Event Summary】
Generative AI has become a common tool for researchers in academic writing; however, many students utilize these tools without considering the relevant academic ethical guidelines. Furthermore, AI frequently generates non-existent references with a high degree of confidence, creating "citation hallucinations." If these are included in a thesis without verification, they may lead to academic integrity disputes with profound consequences. In this seminar, Professor Ming-Hsien Li will guide participants in identifying common types and causes of AI citation hallucinations, explaining how to correctly apply AI to academic research design, and sharing writing techniques and literature verification methods to mitigate hallucinations. The second half of the session is dedicated to a hands-on workshop for practical application. The seminar will place particular emphasis on academic ethics in the AI era, including the disclosure and boundaries of AI usage, regulations regarding citation and plagiarism, data authenticity, and the protection of research participants' privacy, helping students leverage AI effectively while upholding academic integrity to avoid future complications.

Organizer: Institute of Religion and Humanities, Tzu Chi University
